Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial singer and composer who weds the soul of gospel and jazz with R&B in a signature mix. She's performed on Broadway and at the Democratic National Convention and in the European clubs and festivals. Sunshine's given name is Denise White. Though she lives in Atlanta however, she comes out of Chester Pennsylvania where she began music by performing and playing the piano in churches. She attended Spellman College and began to study the R&B style that is popular in Atlanta. Since then, it was remixed and has become a part of her set. She has also contributed her singing for The Fighting Temptations' soundtrack. She took on the role of primary pianist for Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, who won Tony and Grammy Awards for her voice she asked Sunshine to be part of the Dreamgirls production at the Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was recognized nationally during her four daily performances in 2008 at the Democratic National Convention. She was later invited to sing during President Obama's inaugural in 2009.
